NELLIE B. NIXON

Nellie Byrum Nixon, 92, of Route 3, died Monday, June 5, 1995, in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Chowan Hospital.

Mrs. Nixon was born in Chowan County. She was a retired fish packer with Murray Nixon's Fishery. A member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, she was a member of its Women's Missionary Union and the Maggie Harrell Sunday School Class. She was the widow of William Thomas Nixon.

Surviving are one daughter, Marguerite N. Byrum of Edenton; two sisters, Johnetta Windley of Chesapeake and Virginia B. Windley of Gates; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by the Rev. Meredith Garrett. Burial will follow in the Nixon Family Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Guy Russell Byrum, Route 1, Edenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Rocky Hock Baptist Church.
