Dr. Lenox Dial Baker, 92, died Friday morning in Hillcrest Convalescent Center.
A native of DeKalb, Texas, he was in the Department of Orthopedics at Duke University Medical Center from 1937 until 1972. Dr. Baker was medical director of the Lenox Baker Children's Hospital from 1949-1972.
Surviving are two sons, Robert F. Baker of Durham and Dr. Lenox D. Baker Jr. of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, officiated by the Rev. Derek Shows. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery. Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to the Virginia Flowers Baker Orthopedic Fund or the Margaret W. Copeland Baker Orthopedic Fund, DUMC, Box 2912, Durham, N.C. 27710. Arrangements were handled by Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home.
