JAMES A. NUMMY

James Alexander Nummy, 88, of the 1200 block of Smokey Mountain Trail, died June 7, 1995, in a local hospital.

Mr. Nummy was born in Montgomery, Ala. He retired from Norfolk & Western railroad after 36 years, was a member of Park Place Baptist Church, its Men's Progressive Bible Class and was former chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was past master and honorary member of Elizabeth Masonic Lodge (NU)34, past patron of Elizabeth Eastern Star Chapter (NU)45, member of Knights of Mecca, K.C.C.H. Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Temple, member emeritus of the Color Guard and past president of the Ocean View Shrine Club. He was the widower of Catherine Taylor Nummy.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert L. Parrish, Sr. of Chesapeake; two sisters, Mrs. Juanita Walker of Norfolk and Mrs. Maribel Osterheldt of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Dr. Paul B. Watlington, Jr. Arrangements by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel.
