POLICE TRACE FINGERPRINT TO SUSPECT IN ROBBERY

Detectives early Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old man after finding his fingerprint in a carwash office that was robbed Monday, according to police and court records.

Pedro E. Medoro, 30, assistant manager of Southern Pride carwash, told police Monday the business was robbed and he was assaulted by two short people wearing ninja-like outfits.

Medoro also told police he believed he was shot. He said he saw the suspects with a gun and a Samurai-style sword.

Detectives said Medoro sustained a gash on his head but they don't believe the wound was caused by a gunshot.

On Tuesday, authorities matched a fingerprint found on a money box to Antone Green of the 100 block of N. Oceana Blvd., according to a search-warrant affidavit. Green was arrested last year for possessing marijuana, court records show.

The fingerprint was found on a money box that was stored inside a locked coin-changer. According to the affidavit, one of the suspects took the office keys and opened the coin changer, stealing $2,100.

Police late Wednesday searched Green's residence, looking for the cash, the office keys, the Samurai-style sword, the ninja-like outfits and a semiautomatic pistol.

They did not say what they found.

Green has been charged with robbery, malicious assault and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held in the city jail without bail.

Detectives are searching for the second suspect. They said they didn't know that suspect's identity.

Anyone with information about the second suspect is asked to call 427-0000 or 427-4101.
