BILLY GENE FREEMAN

Billy G. ``Bill'' Freeman, 67, of Virginia Beach, passed away in his home on June 7, 1995.

Mr. Freeman was born on Oct. 13, 1927, in Cherokee County near Hulbert, Okla., to Walter and Hattie Hood Freeman.

Prior to his military service, Mr. Freeman graduated from the George Barr Umpire School in Sanford, Fla., and umpired professional baseball. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1969 after serving 22 years and was also retired from Norfolk General Hospital.

Survivors include his three sons, Mark Freeman, William Freeman and Steve Freeman; one daughter, Elaine Freeman Quinn; five grandchildren, Christina Ann Freeman, Christopher Freeman, Casey Freeman, Joey Quinn and Natalie Alice Quinn, all of Virginia Beach; his twin sister, Betty Shields of Tulsa, Okla., and sisters, Christine Hays of Kansas City, Mo., Kathryn Clausen of Deland, Fla., Virginia Onorato of Las Vegas and Erma Lannen of Wagoner, Okla.; and one brother, Warren ``Jack'' Freeman of Fairfield Bay, Ark.

Mr. Freeman was predeceased by his wife of 23 years, Alice Ann Freeman; his parents, Walter and Hattie Freeman; two sisters, Glenda Freeman and Lenna Remedies; and three brothers, Carl Freeman, Harold Freeman and Verle ``Doc'' Freeman.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Kempton Baldridge. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
