Regarding the news clip from your paper which asked:
``What do you think about the role of the church in politics?''
From a very young age to current 76, it has been my observation that the attendance of Protestants has been less than zealous. Rarely are the pews more than one-third to one-half full.
The ministry appears to assume that it needs only to deal with the spirit. Whereas, we Homo sapiens constantly deal with body and soul. The pulpit should address the needs of both, like we people do.
In order to pull their load, all churches should be assessed for fire and police protection. Until now it has always been free and the burden of taxpayers.
Currently the need is great for all churches to embrace and preach a message about the modern body and soul needs of all Homo sapiens. The pulpit needs to voice up-to-date moral values and guide political and social actions, pulling their social load in the needs of people, both young and old.
