Carolyn Stewart Almgren, 83, of 2229 N. Lakeside Drive, died Friday, June 9, 1995, at the address in the home of her daughter, Doris A. Cosenza.
Mrs. Almgren was born in Pine Bluff, Ark. She was united in marriage with E.A. Almgren in 1931. Preceding her in death were her husband and two sons, Benjamin C. and R. David Almgren.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lou Williams and Doris A. Cosenza; her son-in-law, Sam A. Cosenza Jr.; her grandson, Phillip W. Cosenza and his wife, Paula; her grandson, Wendell K. Cosenza; and her sister, Stella L. Jacobsen of Virginia Beach; her granddaughter, Melanie Matthews of Powell, Tenn.; her granddaughter, Phyllis Estrada, and her husband, Leo Estrada, and two great-grandchildren of Overland Park, Kan.; her sister, Mary W. Griffin and brother-in-law, A.J. Griffin, of Little Rock, Ark.; her brother, Louis Stewart, and sister-in-law, Catherine Stewart, of Carthage, Texas.
Mrs. Almgren was a member of Great Neck Baptist Church. She served as secretary of the Great Neck Garden Club for many years. She was awarded a certificate of appreciation for her volunteer work given to Virginia Beach Schools.
A memorial service will be held at Great Neck Baptist Church, 1020 General Jackson Drive, Virginia Beach, at 3 p.m. Monday, June 12, 1995, with the Rev. Bill Kincaid officiating. Arrangements are by Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 945, 23451, or the Great Neck Baptist Church Building Fund, 1020 General Jackson Drive, 23454.
