Ruth Swain McCraw, 86, formerly of Norfolk, died June 9, 1995, in Virginia Beach.
A native of Roper, N.C., she was the daughter of Henry Wheeler Swain Sr. and Nancy Davenport Swain. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Norfolk. She owned and operated The Camellia House beauty salon for over 30 years.
Survivors include a son, Jesse S. McCraw Sr. of Virginia Beach; a brother, Leonard Swain of Roper, N.C.; five grandchildren, Debra M. Austin, Melinda M. Patterson, William J. McCraw, Laura M. Simmons and Jesse S. McCraw Jr.; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, William P. McCraw Jr., and a granddaughter, Carole McCraw Haymaker.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Evans Funeral Home, Edenton, N.C., by the Rev. Ralph Epps. Burial will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton.
