The Unitarian Universalist Church of Norfolk will be honored Sunday afternoon during the seventh annual Hampton Roads Gay Pride Picnic at Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach.
The church, long supportive of gay organizations, will receive the Hampton Roads Lesbian and Gay Pride Coalition's community award.
The award is presented annually to ``an individual or organization that has demonstrated superior commitment to the gay and lesbian community.''
Also to be honored Sunday is the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Students and Allies, an organization at Old Dominion University.
The picnic, which last year drew more than 1,000 gay men, lesbians, their families and friends, will begin at noon and conclude at 5 p.m. by CNB
