BANK MERGER COMPLETE, NEW ENTITY PLANS GROWTH

The merger of the Bank of Suffolk and the Bank of Waverly, forming James River Bankshares Inc., has been completed. The multibank holding company had assets of almost $152 million. Chairman Elmon T. Gray said that the company has appointed First Union National Bank of North Carolina as stock transfer agent. He said the company would aggressively try to build a banking franchise from Hampton Roads to Richmond. (PRNewswire) by CNB
