Estelle Drewry Simms, 99, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, died June 9, 1995.
Mrs. Simms was the daughter of the late Joseph and Missouri Drewry. She was the widow of Edward J. Simms. Mrs. Simms was a Methodist.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie S. Raiford of Sedley and Frances S. Overby of Warner Robbins, Ga.; one son, Linwood Simms of Franklin; one sister, Sallie D. Bland of Williamston, N.C.; and one brother, Edwin Drewry of Emporia. Mrs. Simms was predeceased by a daughter, Bertha S. Stephenson, and two sons, Garland Simms and Marvin Simms. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, by the Rev. David Johnson. The family will recieve friends at the home of Mrs. Raiford, 17473 Johnson Mill Road, Sedley, and suggest memorials be made to a favorite charity. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
