Clarence Elmo ``Booty'' Garner Sr., 82, of the 1800 block of Mustang Trail, a retired rigger, died June 10, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a native of Portsmouth and a member of Sweethaven Baptist Church and Darden Hunt Club. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 37 1/2 years, was quarterback and running back for Wilson High School from 1929-31, played semi-pro baseball in the Carolina League and continued playing baseball for Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret R. Garner; a daughter, Linda O'Brien of Suffolk; a son, Clarence E. ``Booty'' Garner Jr. of Chesapeake; a brother, James L. Garner of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, George Garner, Ahern Colt Garner and Clarence E. Garner III; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Tom Potter and Dr. Don Rhoton. The family will be at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
