Esther L. Leggett ``Big Mom,'' 82, of the 3000 block of Pioneer Lane in Chesapeake and Bingham Road in South Mills, N.C., died June 10, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Leggett was born in Martin County, N.C., had been a resident of Norfolk and retired in South Mills, N.C. She was an avid gardener and formerly employed by Sears Roebuck & Co. Credit Department.
She is survived by one son, Bob Leggett of Troy, Va.; two daughters, Naomi ``Polly'' Freeman of Chesapeake and Joyce Ann Flaskey of Nags Head, N.C.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven sisters; and one brother.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in Westlawn Memorial Park, Elizabeth City, N.C., by the Rev. Ron Stuart. The family will receive friends at her daughter's home on Pioneer Lane, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or South Mills Church of Christ Building Fund.
