DOLE OFF THE MARK

Bob Dole's attack on the entertainment industry was just another cynical move to gain political favor with the far right. Senator Dole wants to be president so bad he will criticize a movie he's never seen and two rap groups, one of which broke up a year ago (Geto Boys) and the other of which hasn't released an album in two years (2 Live Crew).

What is far more telling is that Dole and his Republican friend claim to want less government regulation but are constantly trying to regulate movies, TV, books, music and art - all under the guise of protecting children. The only regulators should be parents.

Parents need to take an active interest in what their children watch and listen to. If Dole is so concerned about our children, then why is he snuggling up to the NRA and trying to repeal the assault-weapons ban? I guess Dole's campaign slogan will be, ``Assault Weapons Don't Kill, Movies and CDs Do!''
