MATT A. WASTLUND

Matt Alen Wastlund died June 19, 1995, at the age of 34 in his Norfolk home, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Rapid City, S.D., on Feb. 10, 1961, to Ogden and Doris Wastlund. Retired from the U.S. Navy, he was employed as a field engineer with The American Systems Engineering Corporation of Virginia Beach at the time of his death.

He attended both Indiana and Roane State Universities. A member of United Lutheran Church, he joyously embraced and shared his Christian faith as he grew ill. He was actively involved with the Names Quilt Project of San Francisco and educating others about AIDS. An avid computer enthusiast, he was equally happy in his ``dream'' kitchen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ogden and Doris Wastlund and his brother, Kim Wastlund, all of South Dakota.

Survivors include his life's companion, Jimmy Cormney of Norfolk, and his sister, Lori Gomez of Kearns, Utah. Other survivors include sister, Kris Peterson of Ephraim, Utah, and brothers, Lowell Wastlund of Kaysville, Utah, Curtis Wastlund of Gillette, Wyo., Gundar Wastlund of Midvale, Utah, Kent Wastlund of Kaysville, Utah; many nieces, nephews and friends. Matt cherished his family and friends.

The memorial service will be held tonight, Wednesday, June 21, at 7 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel. Interment will be held in Sturgis, S.D., at a later date.

No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the love of two who are thoroughly persuaded of each other's worth.
