Harry Edward Stapleton, 62, of the 300 block of Western Ave., a retired news reporter, died June 22, 1995, in Obici Hospital.
Mr. Stapleton was born in Appalachia, Va. He was retired from The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star after 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Neely Stapleton; a daughter, Elizabeth Ruth Stapleton of Suffolk; two stepdaughters, Sheila M. Wade of Big Stone Gap, Va. and Esther M. Baker of Ahoskie, N.C.; two stepsons, Franklin M. Moore and Mack N. Moore, both of Cofield, N.C.; his mother, Addie Stapleton Heller of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and a sister, Ann Slemp of Big Stone Gap, Va.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the American Legion Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, Va., by W.C. Jackson. Hill Funeral Home, Suffolk, is handling arrangements.
