Lisle A. Metcalf, 88, died Thursday, June 22, 1995, at his residence. A native of Suffolk, he had been a Peninsula resident for 55 years.
Mr. Metcalf was employed by MGI as a bookkeeper. He retired from Newport News Shipyard and Dry Dock Co. as a Chief Store Keeper in 1971 after 31 years of service. He was a member of Hilton Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Odd Fellows, with a life membership of 50 years, and a member of the Gideons International.
Survivors include his son, Stephen L. Metcalf of Newport News; two brothers, Frank A. Metcalf of Windsor and Earl J. Metcalf of Smithfield; two grandsons, Carl and Donald Metcalf; two great-granddaughters, Heather and Cindy Leight; and one great-grandson, Johnny.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 1995, in Peninsula Funeral Home by Rev. Bill Summers. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, Gideons International, or Hilton Presbyterian Church.
