MATTIE L. UZZLE

Mattie L. Uzzle, of the 2200 block of Farmer Lane, died June 22, 1995 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Uzzle was born in Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Rose of Sharon Revival Center in Norfolk where she served on the Mother's Board, was an organist for many years and a faithful worker. She was the widow of William H. Uzzle Sr. and the daughter of the late Nonie Shearrins and Nathaniel Shearrins.

Survivors include five daughters, Maggie Webster and Loris Williams, both of Virginia Beach, Lizzie Uzzle, Lillie Uzzle and Christine Bond, all of Norfolk; seven sons, Alton Uzzle, Herbert Uzzle, Randor Uzzle, Johnny Uzzle, all of Norfolk, Roy Uzzle of Chesapeake, Linwood Ruffin of Alexandria, Va., and Wardell Ruffin of Washington, D.C.; two sisters; Ruth Parker of Bronx, N.Y., Annie Shearrins of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Redell Beale of Alexandria and Randsome Shearrins of Carrsville, Va.; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday at Way of the Truth Church of God in Christ, 2322 Matlby Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Wilbert McNair. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Arrangements by Metropolitan Funeral Service. Family and friends will assemble at 6600 Chesapeake Blvd., Apt. H5, Norfolk at 11 a.m. Tuesday for funeral processional to the church.
