CURTIS CATRON: INSURANCE AGENT WHO CAME HERE IN A '55 CHEVY

Curtis Catron arrived in Virginia Beach in a '55 Chevy in 1962, just in time to begin a new life and for the infamous Ash Wednesday storm, which destroyed homes and businesses up and down the oceanfront. ``The old timers will remember that,'' Catron, now an insurance agent, said.

At the time he was assistant manager of the Roses five and dime store on 19th Street, right next to Stormont's seafood shop. (Something else old timers will remember.)

``I spent the night there during the storm,'' he said and laughed. ``I didn't know any better. The store was there and I was supposed to save the store.''
