The Supreme Court has ruled that all school athletes may be tested for drugs - even if there is no evidence that anyone is using drugs. I am 100 percent for the testing.
These students need to realize they are our future athletes and role models for students following in their footsteps.
If the drug testing had been done in the past, we wouldn't have had the Len Bias death and the repeated drug problems of Dexter Manley and Daryl Strawberry, to name a few.
I say to the students: Take the drug test, show you are clean and go through college and to the pros campaigning against drug use. Be a positive role model for others.
A T-shirt should be given to each athlete whose test comes back negative. The T-shirt message: ``I took the test, and I am a drug-free athlete.''
That's what we need in sports - more positive role models. More Dr. J's, Kareems and Jordans, to name a few.
