Richard J. Harris Jr., 29, of the 500 block of Whispering Oak Circle, died June 29, 1995.
Mr. Harris was born in Troy, N.C. He was a correction officer with Saint Bride Correction Center and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda K. Harris; his parents, Carolyn Sandra Harris of Newport News and Richard J. Harris Sr. of Goldsboro, N.C.; a brother, Vincent D. Harris of Newport News; maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Annie Ruth Ewing, and Frederick Ewing of Mount Gilead, N.C.; paternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, James Harris, and Constance Harris of Washington, D.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday at New Oak Grove Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. O.L. Cromwell II. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will be at 3373 Head of River Road, Virginia Beach and will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
