Mary Elizabeth Scarborough Napier, 69, of Virginia Beach, died June 30, 1995, in her residence surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Napier was born in Wanchese, North Carolina and resided in Virginia Beach most of her life. She was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxillary Virginia Beach Borough Volunteer Fire Department, and Ladies Auxillary of Virginia Beach Host Lions Club.
Survivors include her husband, James H. Napier, Sr.; 3 daughters, Patsy Michaels of Virginia Beach, Laura Johnson and Mary Lynn Johanson of New London, Minn.; 2 sons, James H. Napier, Jr. and Robert C. Napier of Virginia Beach; 2 sisters, Matilda S. Malbon and Charlotte S. Marshall of Virginia Beach; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
A church service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 3, 1995, in Virginia Beach United Methodist Church by Rev. Paul Bailey. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
There will be a visitation Sunday evening, July 2, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Inc., 19th and Artic Avenue, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, will be handling the arrangements.
