Robert Gordon ``Bob'' Louther, 80, of Virginia Beach, died July 2, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Louther was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., and was retired from the United States Coast Guard and Civil Service. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea; an original member of the Civilian Conservation Corps; a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Adoniram Masonic Lodge (NU)517, Akron, Ohio; TADMOR Shrine Temple, Akron, Ohio; Scottish Rite Bodies, Canton, Ohio; York Rite Bodies; Griggs Commandery, ELizabeth City, N.C.; and D.A.V.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy S. Louther; daughter, Barbara Jean Louther of Detroit, Mich.; two step-sons, George Callender of Virginia Beach and Jerry Callender of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Charles Louther of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren, Christine Miller of Virginia Beach, Courtney Cowan of Ocean Springs, Miss., and SSgt. George R. Callender USMC of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; and three nephews in Akron, Ohio.
The funeral will be conducted Wednesday, July 5, 1995, at 1 p.m. by Pastor Kenneth Carbaugh in Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel in charge. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 4200 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, Va. 23455. A reception will follow at the church immediately following the interment service.
