Elizabeth V. Hargrove, 73, of the 2000 block of Nansemond Parkway, died July 1, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mrs. Hargrove was born in Seaboard, N.C., and was the widow of Edgar L. Hargrove. She was a member of Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth. She was active in Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School. She was predeceased by a son, Roland H. Hargrove.
Survivors include eight daughters, Janice Tyler of Newport News, Francine McQuillia of Suffolk, Mattie Mills, Carolyn Scott, Agnes Wilson, Helen Hargrove, Brenda Taylor and Antoinette Butler, all of Portsmouth; four sons, Eddie L. Hargrove Sr. and Calvin A. Hargrove, both of Portsmouth, and Ralph R. Hargrove and Joseph D. Hargrove, both of Norfolk; three sisters, Alice Alston of Jackson, N.C., Pearl Grant of Maryland, and Agnes Harris of Seaboard, N.C.; one brother, Raymond Alston of Washington, D.C.; 40 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
The funeral will be conducted Friday, July 7, 1995, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Joe B. Fleming in Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Friday.
