Riley W. McGlone Jr., 78, of the 100 block of Woodstock St., a retired rigger, died July 1, 1995, in Sentara Nursing Center.
Mr. McGlone was born in Cambridge, Mass. and resided in Portsmouth for 75 years. He was a member of Third Baptist Church and was the widower of Rebecca M. McGlone and Clementine M. McGlone. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 32 years and was also retired from the Portsmouth public schools after eight years of service. He was predeceased by his parents, Stella and Riley McGlone and a daughter, Gladys Frances Tolliver.
Survivors include three daughters, Gloria M. Odoms, Delesta M. Ware and Hortense Reda Richardson; five stepdaughters, Celestine Howell, Doris Williams, Stella Johnson, Cardrienne Peebles and Deborah Sims; a son, Jackson McGlone; a stepson, John Bell; a sister, Dora M. Harris of Portsmouth; a brother, Richard McGlone of Ahoskie; 10 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Third Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe B. Fleming. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will be at Fisher Funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The body will be in church at 10 a.m. and the family will assemble at the residence.
