WILLIAM R. PIERCE

William Robert Pierce, 72, of the 100 block of Maycox Ave., a retired mechanical engineer, died July 1, 1995, in a local hospital.

Mr. Pierce was born in Selma, Ala., and was retired from Air-A-Plane. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a Virginia Polytechnical Institute Alumni and a licensed member of Professional Engineers Society.

Survivors include his wife, Rowena B. Pierce; a daughter, Jessica Pierce Boyce and her husband, Gregory Boyce of Virginia Beach; two sons, Gary Alden Pierce and wife, Paula White Pierce, of Chesapeake and Steven Robert Pierce of Richmond; two brothers, James Edward Pierce of Richmond and Frank Pierce of New York; two grandchildren, Lauren Winslow Pierce and Ashley Michelle Pierce of Chesapeake.

A funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. William E. Amon and the Rev. Robert H. Eason. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
