Thomas Gentry ``Tom'' Rice, 82, of Virginia Beach, a retired comptroller and accountant, died July 5, 1995, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Rice was born in Rising Sun, Ind., and was retired from Miami Tobacco Co. after 45 years. He was the widower of Betty Koebler Rice. He was a member of Green Run Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, treasurer and Sunday School teacher for the Mixed Adult Class. Mr. Rice served with the 32nd Squadron aboard the USS Langley in the South Pacific during World War II.
Survivors include a sister, Marie Rice Schroder of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Joseph Hartzell Rice of Rising Sun, Ind.; 11 nieces; and 14 nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Green Run Baptist Church, 1201 Rosemont Road, by the Rev. Lowe Norman and the Rev. David Slayton. Burial will be in Alverton Cemetery, Alverton, Pa., on Saturday. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 101 W. Plume St., Norfolk, Va. 23507.
