Chesapeake professionals and business people now have another forum in which to network and talk shop.
Craig Bertenshaw, an account director and fleet manager for Cavalier Ford, is organizing Network Chesapeake, a program designed to help city businesses promote their services and meet potential contacts and clients. The group will meet once a month.
Bertenshaw hopes the program will become a permanent addition to the city's business community.
``Our primary goal is to get Chesapeake business people to introduce themselves to each other,'' said Bertenshaw. ``To know who is out there in the business community.''
Bertenshaw came up with the idea for Network Chesapeake by attending other networking groups.
``I attend the After Hours program offered by the Chamber of Commerce, but that program is for the entire Hampton Roads region. I wanted something that was a bit more focused on Chesapeake.''
So far, Bertenshaw is pleased with the response for Network Chesapeake.
``We already have about 200 people committed to coming to our first meeting.''
The guest list includes representatives from virtually every type of business.
Network Chesapeake will hold its first meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 11 at Cavalier Ford on Military Highway. Participation is free.
The organization is open to any Chesapeake professional or business person, and meetings will be held the second Tuesday of every month.
