Susie Ann ``Susanna'' Walton, 90, of the 3500 block of Good Hope Road, a grocery store owner, died Wednesday, July 5, 1995, in Manning Convalescent Center, Portsmouth.
Miss Walton was born and raised in the Gracetown section of Princess Anne County and was the daughter of the late Rev. William Henry and Luvenia Walton. She operated Walton's Grocery at the corner of Holland and Rosemont Roads for over 40 years. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, United Order of Tents, and formed a Juvenile Tent named Susie's Jewells. She was also very active with the Seatack Senior Citizens Circle.
She is survived by a devoted sister-in-law, Alice J. Walton; six nieces, Gwendolyn W. Daniels, Delores W. Barfield, Alice W. Haskins, Marie W. McDowell, Wanser W. Turner and Faith W. McKeithen; five nephews, George Sutton, Joseph Walton Jr. , William Walton, Roland Walton and Wilbert Walton; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Union Baptist Church, South Blvd., Virginia Beach. Burial will be in Jones Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Riddick Funeral Service. The family will be at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Alice J. Walton, 629 S. Rosemond Road.
