The Federal Aviation Administration is looking at four Virginia sites for an aircraft tracking facility that could provide up to 400 jobs. The Manassas Regional Airport, the Army's Vint Hill Farms facility in Fauquier County and a site in Loudoun County have submitted bids to the FAA. A site in Leesburg that already has one FAA building in also in the running. Vint Hill Farms is scheduled to close in 1997, but a portion of the base would remain open if it lands the contract. The FAA hopes to make a decision by October. The tracking facility would serve all three major Washington-area airports, Baltimore-Washington International, Dulles International and National. The FAA site selection team has said it needs about 15 to 20 acres within a 50-mile radius of Washington. (Associated Press) by CNB
