Eugene F. Marlinghaus, 51, died peacefully June 29, 1995, in his home.
Originally from E. St. Louis, Ill., he graduated from Rice University, Houston, Tex., in 1965. Gene was an INGRES relational database specialist who helped organize and served as the first president of the national INRES Users Group. For several years he operated his own business, Database Applications. Since 1990, he had worked as a consultant in the Silicon Valley. Prior to that, he worked primarily on the East Coast, and made his home in Virginia Beach, Va.
He was the beloved husband of Emilie R. Marlinghaus for 27 years and the loving father of Karla L. Marlinghaus of Virginia Beach, Va. and Ryan E. Marlinghaus of Cupertino, Calif.
Friends are invited to a memorial service Saturday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Los Altos United Methodist Church, Los Altos, Calif. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Darling and Fischer, Chapel of the Hills, Los Gatos, Calif., is handling the arrangements.
