Horace D. Rawls, 69, of the 100 block of View Ave., died July 7, 1995, in a local hospital.
He was a native of Hertford County, N.C., and was retired with 24 years of service to the U.S. Post Office in Philadelphia. He was Baptist and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine L. Rawls; two stepdaughters, including Sandra M. Jones of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, Ralph Jones Jr. of Virginia Beach and Steven David Jones of Moyock, N.C.; a great-grandson, Anthony Ross Jones; two sisters, Sally Mae Wadsworth of Nags Head, N.C., and Virginia Minton of Ahoskie, N.C.; and four brothers, Stanley A., Rawls of Pollocksville, N.C., Levis Rawls of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Wendell Rawls of Hamlet, N.C., and Dallas Rawls of Zebulon, N.C.
The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. John Sykes. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
