Dwight L. ``Buck'' Core Sr., 73, of the 1300 block of Calla Ave., died July 6, 1995, in a local hospital.
He was a native of Carlisle, W.Va., and was a retired photographer with the Naval Supply Center. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was the president of the choir, plus he held other offices within the church. He was a former board member of the Tidewater Council on Alcoholism and was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Core; four daughters, Carolyn Greyard of Woodbridge, Va., Nancy Vanek of Virginia Beach, Patricia Ingmire of Virginia Beach and Cynthia Klingler of Norfolk; one son, Dwight Core Jr. of Norfolk; one sister, Dorthy MacShane of Charleston, W.Va.; six grandchildren, George Ingmire III, Patrick and Christopher Greyard, Jennifer and Matthew Lingerfelt and Ryan Vanek.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Christ United Methodist Church by the Rev. Frances Truitt Moody. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Discretionary Fund of Christ United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
