SWIM TEAM RESULTS: Troy Edwards and Brian Hollowell each finished first in four events to pace the Smithfield Dolphins swim team over Elizabeth Manor, 244-239, at the Elizabeth River Country Club recently.
Edwards won the 100-meter individual medley, backstroke, butterfly and was on the 100-meter freestyle relay team in the 9- and 10-year-old division. Hollowell took the 100 individual medley, freestyle, backstroke and was a member of the 200 medley relay team in the 11- and 12-year-old competition.
Marcie Hollowell led the Smithfield girls with first place finishes in the 100 individual medley, the butterfly and the 200 medley relay in the 13- and 14-year-old division. She also placed second in the freestyle.
Other Dolphin standouts and their age group on the girls side included: Rebecca Spital (9-10), first in the freestyle, breast stroke and the 100 freestyle relay team; Dana Edwards (11-12), first in the backstroke and 200 medley relay and second in the 100 individual medley and freestyle; Kimberly Brown (15-18), first in the breast stroke and second in the 200 mixed medley relay; Leah Spital (6 and under), first in the backstroke and second in the freestyle; and Hanna March (6 and under), first in the freestyle.
Top boys finishers for Smithfield were: Luke Morgan (9-10), first in the backstroke and butterfly and second in the 100 individual medley; Josh Glass (11-12), first in the breast stroke and 200 medley relay; and Mark LoPresti (13-14), first in the backstroke and 200 medley relay and second in the 100 individual medley.
COMMONWEALTH GAMES: Virginia Amateur Sports will hold its sixth annual Commonwealth Games on July 14-16 in Roanoke.

Opening ceremonies will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at Victory Stadium. Guests will include Los Angeles Laker George Lynch and Ms. Fitness World Carol Semple.
COCK ISLAND RACE: The eighth annual Cock Island Race will be held July 14-17 on the Portsmouth waterfront.
Elibible classes will include all PHRF and Cruising. There is also a special non-spinnaker cruising class open to all non-measured yachts whose skippers have not raced in one year.

TRAIL CLUB: The Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of the Advent, 9620 Norfolk Ave. in Ocean View in Norfolk. This is the club's annual Swap and Sell. For more information, call 495-7002 or 552-0292.

MUSTANG ALL-STARS: Six teams from Windsor and Suffolk will compete in the 9- and 10-year-old District I Mustang All-Star Tournament at Windsor High on July 12-16.
Games will begin at 5:30 and 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; Saturday games will start at 2, 4:30 and 7 p.m.

IRON DUKES GOLF: The third annual Iron Dukes Golf Classic will be held at Smithfield Downs Golf Course on Aug. 5 at 9 a.m. The cost, which benefits the Windsor High football team, is $50 per participant and includes lunch cart and green fees.
The format is Florida Best Ball, with prizes awarded to the top three teams. Prizes will also be awarded for the longest drive and closest to the pin on the front and back nines.

WRESTLING CAMP: The Nansemond River wrestling team will sponsor the Southern Virginia Wrestling Camp at Nansemond River Parkway Elementary School on July 17-21.
Instructors will include Rob Waller, a former junior college national champion and three-time college conference champion; Fred Powell, a former Granby High standout and NCAA Division I national champion at Lock Haven University; John Armel, coach of Brownsville High (Pa.); and Nansemond River coach Doug Dohey.
The early session will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon session from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Campers should bring their own lunch. No afternoon session will be held Wednesday. The camp costs $60. Call Dohey at 539-6686 for information.

Virginia Wesleyan basketball coach Terry Butterfield will hold his fifth annual Blue Marlin Shooting Camp Monday through Friday, Aug. 7-11 and Aug. 14-18. Enrollment is open to all boys and girls ages 8-18. Sessions run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $105 per session if pre-registered or $120 if registering the first day of camp. FOOTBALL CAMP: The 15th annual Chowan Football Camp will be held July 23-26 for 12-year-olds to rising seniors.
Visiting instructors will attend on separate days, while members of the Chowan College staff and high school coaches will provide daily instruction.
Visiting instructors will include Jeff Jagodzinski, assistant coach at East Carolina University; Carl Brock, head coach at Hertford County High; Leon Hart, head coach at Elon College; Don Murray, head coach at Oxford-Webb High; John Patterson, assistant coach at Elon College; and John Shuman, head coach at Fork Union High.
Campers will be housed in a dormitory on the Chowan campus and will have all-you-can-eat meals in the college cafeteria.

VOLLEYBALL CAMP: The Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club is sponsoring a Sports Performance Volleyball camp this summer for girls of middle school and high school ages.

Churchland, the meet winner last year and a third-place finisher in the regular season, opened with a 252-208 home victory over Marlin.
Churchland next visits Marlin on Wednesday and opposes Elizabeth Manor on Saturday.
Erik Davis, Jeff Bozman and Emily Perkins each won three individual events for Churchland. Davis, Perkins and Elizabeth Craig, a two-event winner, also were members of winning relay teams. Rickey Park won three events for Marlin.
TENNIS: Entries are now being accepted for the Baker Damron Eye Center Junior Tennis Tournament, scheduled for Aug. 2-5 at Elizabeth Manor, Portsmouth.
