EDWIN D. JEWELL

Edwin Doye Jewell, 82, of the 3700 block of Chatham Circle, a retired electronics engineer, died July 7, 1995, in a local hospital.

Mr. Jewell was born in Paris, Ark. He retired from Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility after 38 years, was a member of Talbot Park Baptist Church, an ordained deacon, a member of Norview Masonic Lodge (NU)113, a graduate of John Brown University of Siloam, Ark., and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Gertrude M. Jewell; a daughter and her husband, Marilyn J. and Dr. William R. May of Hampton, Va.; two sons and their wives, Rev. Edwin M. and Elisabeth M. Jewell of Selma, N.C., and Howard D. and Brenda B. Jewell of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Evelyn Edelhuber of Paris, Ark.; and five grandchildren, Steven R. May and Richard B. May of Hampton, Va., David M. Jewell and Ryan T. Jewell of Selma, N.C., and Brandt A. Jewell of Nashville, Tenn. He was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Jewell.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Talbot Park Baptist Church by Dr. Harry T. Dixon. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Talbot Park Baptist Church.
