EFFIE B. CALE

Effie Bunch Cale, 86, of the Skilled Nursing Facility, died July 7, 1995, in Chowan Hospital, SNF.

Mrs. Cale was born in Chowan County on Feb. 14, 1909. She was a retired grocery store owner, the daughter of the late Effie Perry Bunch and James Bunch, widow of Grover Douglas Cale and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Route 3, Edenton.

Survivors include two daughters, Rachel Simpson of Roper, N.C., and Doris Jean Kern of Edenton; a son, Douglas Cale of Roper; a sister, Lettie Ashley, and two brothers, Rodney Bunch and Loice Bunch, all of Edenton; five grandchildren, Vicki Simpson, Carol Deaver and Lynn Bassett, all of Roper, Kim Baker of Greenville, N.C., and Wayne Cale of Edenton; and great-grandchildren, Jonathan Bassett and Julianna Bassett, both of Roper.

A funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. today at Macedonia Baptist Church by the Rev. Bob Young and the Rev. Thomas Biggs. Burial will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home.
