Moises Roman, who held two children hostage during a standoff with a police SWAT team last September, pleaded guilty Monday to nine felonies, including rape, abduction, attempted extortion and use of a gun in a felony.
Roman, then 18, was armed with a handgun when he invaded the children's Stumpy Lake home on Sept. 13, and ordered their mother to go to her bank and withdraw $500. The mother left and called police.
Roman then held the children - an 11-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy - for nine hours.
Roman was charged with 13 felonies, but refused to plead guilty to the remaining four because, his lawyer maintained, the commonwealth had filed redundant charges against him.
Circuit Judge Thomas Shadrick has withheld a ruling on the four counts until Roman's sentencing, scheduled for Aug. 28.
Roman remains in jail.
