Jean Vernell Simmons Reid, 49, of the 200 block of Victoria Drive, a licensed evangelist, died July 8, 1995, at Sentara Bayside Hospital, Virginia Beach.
She was a native of Norfolk a retired employee of Old Dominion University and a member of Samuel Chapel Holiness Church. She was the daughter of the late Harry Greene and Honora Simmons Flemmings.
Survivors include her husband, Elder James L. Reid, Sr.; a daughter, Valencia M. Talley of Newport News; a son, James L. Reid, Jr. of Virginia Beach; and a grandchild.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Samuel Chapel Holiness Church, Moyock, N.C. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Stallings Funeral Home, Elizabeth City. The family will be at the home of the deceased in Virginia Beach and will receive friends and relatives at the home of Burford and Jean S. Dunlap in Coinjock, N.C.
