A shooting Tuesday night in a Maltby Avenue residence sent a male to the hospital in critical condition, police said.
The victim, whose name and age were not released, was in surgery late Tuesday and was not expected to survive.
Detectives questioned witnesses and ordered a gunshot residue test for at least one person. The test can sometimes determine whether a person has recently discharged a firearm.
Investigators declined to say whether the shooting was accidental or intentional. Detectives referred all questions to police spokesman Larry Hill, but Hill said he could not comment until investigators contacted him. The shooting victim was taken to the hospital shortly before 9 p.m. with a chest wound, medical officials said.
