Frank Basil Faulkner, ``fishman'' to many, 77, of the 300 block of Plummer Drive, died Friday, July 14, 1995, in the Brent-Lox Nursing Home. He was a native of Pitt Co., N.C.
Frank was ``fishman'' to many people for 32 years as he worked from a truck delivering to homes in Portsmouth and Chesapeake. He retired from Faulkner's Seafood Market in 1968.
He devoted his last 20 years to music as he organized a band called ``Young at Heart''. They played in nursing homes, churches and other gatherings. He loved to play his guitar and sing country and gospel songs and was always available to serve with a pleasant smile.
He was a member of Cottage Place United Methodist Church, Deep Creek Ruritan Club, Beasley Center and West End Senior Citizens.
Survivors inlude his wife, Willie Mae Faulkner; three daughters, Betty Lou Heldman of West Islip, N.Y., Dorothy Mae Buffkin of Chesapeake, and Peggy Joyce Rigsby of LaBelle, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Alice Wilson of Norfolk and Esther Leary of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Ray Faulkner of Washington, N.C., and Billy Faulkner of Portsmouth; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 17, in Cottage Place United Methodist Church by the Rev. James D. Thomas. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to Cottage Place United Methodist Church, Portsmouth.
