Madie L. Askew, 69, of Carver Circle, died July 12, 1995, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
Mrs. Askew was born in Hertford County, N.C. She was a retired medical clerk with Naval Regional Medical Center, Portsmouth Naval Hospital, after 28 years and was a member of New Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Clara Askew of Portsmouth; two special nephews, Robert L. Harris and Benjamin Strong, both of Portsmouth; a sister-in-law, Erma Askew of Portsmouth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday at New Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Vernon S. Lee. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Monday. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
