James Earl Parker, 66, a retired service manager, died July 14, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Parker was born in Blairsville, Ga. He retired in 1989 from International Harvester-Norfolk Truck Center after 39 years of service. After retirement, he resumed employment for Navistar at the Ford plant in Chesapeake. He was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, an active member of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), member of Point O' Woods Garden Club and Civic League and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Bow Creek Golf Course.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Parker; two daughters, Linda Beasley and husband Teddy of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Lois Brown and husband Ted of Athens, Ga.; his mother, Laura Parker of Blairsville, Ga.; three sisters, Barbara Colwell and Jane Collins, both of Blairsville, and Jean Kendall of Hiawassee, Ga.; four brothers, Zane Parker of Greensboro, N.C., and Jack Parker, Ray Parker and Bill Parker, all of Blairsville; and two grandchildren, Maria Beasley McDonald and Jason M. Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel. Burial will be private. Family will receive friends at the funeral home at 3 p.m. prior to the service and after the service.
