Mrs. Shirley M. Baldwin, age 45, of the 4800 block of East Princess Anne Road, Norfolk, Va., died after a long-term illness in the Hill Haven Nursing Home, Norfolk, Va., on Saturday.
Shirley M. Baldwin was born in Isle of Wight County, Franklin, Va., where she attended public school. She was employed at Norfolk Community Hospital in the nursing department for 15 years, and was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, under the leadership of Dr. G.G. Campbell.
She was the daughter of the late James and Mary V. Thornton.
She leaves to mourn one daughter, Miss Bonita Baldwin; a former husband, Mr. Leo Baldwin; three brothers, Robert Thornton of Portsmouth, John Thornton of Virginia Beach and Shawn Hobbs of Portsmouth; three sisters, Mrs. Roberta Barringer of Virginia Beach, Julia Osie of Tarbora, Md., and Mrs. Kathy Kotey of Atlanta, Ga.; a close friend, James Blackett; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at New Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. G.G. Campbell Jr. Arrangements by Pretlow & Sons Funeral Home.
