LAMPY A. CARTWRIGHT

Lampy Allen Cartwright, 74, of the 3700 block of Belle Haven St., died Tuesday, July 18, 1995, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mrs. Cartwright was born in Portsmouth and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lampy Carlson Allen Sr. She was the widow of Jack B. Cartwright and was predeceased by one of her sons, Hersey G. Cartwright. Mrs. Cartwright was a member of Lake Drummond Baptist Church in Chesapeake.

Survivors include her four sons, Horace Gene Cartwright, Jack B. Cartwright Jr., and Raymond Douglas Cartwright, all of Chesapeake, and Roy Lee Cartwright of South Mills, N.C.; her two brothers, Walter Allen of Elizabeth City, N.C. and Bruce Allen of Camden, N.C.; four half-brothers, Yellma Allen and William Allen, both of Elizabeth City, Charles Allen and Rocky Allen, both of Camden, N.C.; five half-sisters, Gloria Allen and Edna Trueblood, both of Hertford, N.C., Irene Ward of Camden, N.C., Dorothy Shaffer of Tennessee, and Nancy Murphy of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday July 21, 1995, at Lake Drummond Baptist Church by Rev. Jim Clark. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Sykes Trust Fund, Lake Drummond Baptist Church, 3873 Ballahack Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23322.
