THOMAS CLAIBORNE

Thomas Claiborne, 74, of 400 block of Cullodan Street in Suffolk and the 2100 block of Power Drive in Orlando, Fla., died July 14, 1995, in the 2500 block of Pruden Blvd. in Suffolk.

Mr. Claiborne was a retired rigger of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he worked for 37 years. He was born in Portsmouth, Va., and was the widower of Sadie Claiborne. He was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Portsmouth. He was also a U.S. Army veteran; a member of William H. Harrison, Post 190, American Legion; and John P. Piner Post 30, Amvet, Orlando, Fla.

He is survived by one step-daughter, Letharis Wilson of Suffolk; one step-son, Paris Wilson of Suffolk; and three sisters; Ernestine Fitzhugh, Renee McDonald and Regina Claiborne, all of Baltimore, Md.; brother-in-law, Mitchell Fitzhugh; four nephews, Dr. Rodney Fitzhugh, Lance Fitzhugh, Deron Woods and Desmond Claiborne; two nieces, Tyrika McDonald and Kamilla McDonald; one great-nephew, London Fitzhugh; a special friend, Loretta J. Savage; and cousins, in-laws, and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday by Rev. Ben A. Beamer in Corprew Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, Va., with Military Honors. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will be at 1705 Parker Avenue, Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
