DOVEY C. HINTON

Dovey Collins Hinton, 83, of the 2800 block of Merrimac Court, died July 17, 1995.

She was a native of Norfolk and was the widow of Albert L. Hinton. She was a retired teacher with the Norfolk Public School System with 27 years of service. She had been retired for 18 years. Mrs. Hinton was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, the Women of Grace Church, and St. Theresa's Guild. She was also a member of Kiski's Zites, charter member of Jack and Jill of America, Colonial Maids and numerous other organizations. She was the daughter of the late Dovey V. Van Hoy Collins and George S. Collins.

Survivors include her daughters, Lelia O.V. Hinton Crowders of Annandale, Va., and Gail P. Hinton of Norfolk; her son, Carl A. Hinton of Norfolk; her sister, Elizabeth C. Matthews of Baltimore, Md.; her brother, George Van Hoy Collins of St. Louis, Mo.; her grandchildren, Lynnett Crowders of Alexandria, Va., Kimberly D. Crowders of Randolph, N.J., Tiffany Van Hoy Crowders of Monterey, Calif., and Charles Y. Crowders of Tuscaloosa, Ala. She was predeceased by a son, Albert L. Hinton Jr.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Grace Episcopal Church by the Rev. Harold J. Cobb. Hale Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
