A worker fell into a 14-foot-deep shaft at the construction site for a new high school in the 5800 block of Marshall Ave.
The worker was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center, but did not appear to be injured seriously, said R.L. Ware, fire marshal for the city.
The shaft was above ground and workers were able to remove cinderblocks to rescue the worker.
The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. He was out by 10 a.m., Ware said.
No identification of either the worker or the construction company was available Wednesday, Ware said.
