Officials are expected to have results today of an investigation into the fire that damaged the old Norview High School building Monday.
Arson is suspected, especially since the building has been the target of vandals since it was closed June 16, at the end of the 1994-95 school year.
The fire broke out shortly before 6 p.m. Monday and heavily damaged the building, which was built in 1923 and served as Norview High School until 1955. Since then, it has been a junior high school and middle school.
The 72-year-old building, located in the 6300 block of Sewells Point Road, was scheduled to be demolished this summer. The new Norview Middle School has been constructed behind the building and is to open in September.
