Mr. William Henry Tappy Squires Jr., 80, a resident of 651 Lakeview Dr., died Thursday at his home.
He was a native of Norfolk, Va., and was the son of the late Dr. William H. T. Squires Sr. and Mrs. Anna Hull Squires. He was the widower of Mrs. Brooke Tunstall Squires. He was a graduate of St. Christopher's High School and Hampton-Sydney College. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the navy. He was owner and operator of Squires Truck and Leasing Co. He was a member of The Church of the Holy Innocents where he served on the vestry, and was a member of the choir.
He was a member of the American Legion and was a former member of the Henderson Rotary Club.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Anne S. Collieflower of Henderson; one son, Billy Squires of Oxford; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Innocents by the Rev. Leland Smith. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. J.M. White Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
