JAMES R. JOHNSON

James R. Johnson, 64, a retired tech sergeant with the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, died July 23, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.

He was a native of White Plains, N.Y., and was also employed at the Oceana Naval Club in food service for 10 years. He was a member of the Sergeants Association.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Johnson; two daughters, Maria Johnson of Virginia Beach and Lisa Newsome of San Francisco; two sons, Alex Johnson and Raymond Johnson, both of Virginia Beach; and eight grandchildren.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Colonial Grove Memorial Park by Pastor Dave Libengood. Military honors will be accorded at the grave. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
